TNA Hardcore Justice 2014 - This is wrestling

Here is my review of this weeks TNA show

Stairway To Janice - Bram vs Abyss

The two trade punches before Bram charges the corner, but Abyss belly-to-belly suplexes him into the ladder and they end up fighting to the ringside area. Abyss hits him a few times before Bram whips him into the ringpost, then he hits Abyss with a trash can and follows with a second shot to the head. Abyss throws him across the floor and into the steps, busting him open, then Abyss loads the corners with boards covered in barbed wire. He goes for a powerslam but Bram floats over, then he elbows Abyss and throws him in the corner before starting to climb the ladder. Abyss chokeslams him off of it and empties a bag of tacks in the ring, then Bram charges him but Abyss sidesteps him and whips him into a barbed wire board. Abyss climbs the ladder but Bram tips it over and sends Abyss into the other barbed wire board, then he climbs up and gets ‘Janice’ from the hook. Bram throws the ladder outside and swings ‘Janice’ at him, but Abyss grabs him by the throat before hitting a Black Hole Slam. Abyss grabs ‘Janice’ and tries to swing it, but Bram ducks and low blows him, then hits him with ‘Janice’ and makes the cover.

Winner – Bram

*This was a good hardcore match with plenty of brutal spots; they’ve worked really well together and Bram is the right winner of this feud. I guess the feud is over now. 8 of 10 points.

X Division Championship - Low Ki vs Samoa Joe (c)

Ki kicks Joe a few times before running into a back elbow, then Joe jabs him a few times before backsplashing him in the corner and hitting an enziguiri. Joe kicks Ki and hits a running senton for two, then he sets up a Muscle Buster but Ki blocks it and double stomps him in the corner. Ki springboards off the ropes but Joe ducks and goes for an elbow, but Ki dropkicks him into the turnbuckles and sets up for a Ki Crusher. Joe counters with a powerbomb for two, then follows into a Boston crab variation before transitioning into a STF. Ki makes it to the ropes to break, then he kicks Joe again and tries for a Ki Crusher, but Joe throws him on the turnbuckles and goes for another Muscle Buster. Ki throws some elbows but Joe crotches him on the top turnbuckle, then he connects with a Muscle Buster for the win.

Winner – Samoa Joe

*Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki was not the best match on the show but ok. Nothing groundbreaking, just a good, very time-specific pro wrestling match. 7 of 10 points

I Quit Match - Ken Anderson vs Samuel Shaw

We get back to see the match in progress in the arena, and Anderson stumbles down the ramp and grabs a chair. Shaw chokes him with some cables before Anderson slams him on the ramp, then Gunner comes out and stares Anderson down. He watches as Shaw slams Anderson into the barricade and steps, then he whips him into the corner and clotheslines Anderson before he puts him in a Camel Clutch. Anderson fights out and hits a spinning neckbreaker, then Shaw slams him in the corner but Anderson sidesteps a tackle and sends Shaw into the ringpost. Anderson slams him on the mat with a diving armbar, then he applies an elevated armbar and Shaw finally screams that he quits.

Winner – Ken Anderson

*This was a good match; I like that Anderson, who is usually a goof, played it pretty serious considering the type of match. They are making Shaw seem sympathetic, which is good work considering he was a creep and heel for a while. I know this definitely isn’t over, because it seems like they like to drag Anderson’s feuds out, but there’s more story to be told. 7 of 10 points

Hardy vs Team 3D vs Wolves match series announced

Knockouts Championship Last Knockout Standing
Angelina Love (w/ Velvet Sky) vs Gail Kim

Gail runs down to the ring and chases Angelina, slams her into the steps before whipping her at the ringpost. Angelina reverses but Gail stops and clotheslines her, then she charges the corner but Angelina flapjacks her into the turnbuckles. Angelina kicks her and hits jawbreaker variation, then she swings a pipe but Gail ducks and dropkicks a cookie sheet into her face. Gail heads up top but Velvet hits her with the cookie sheet, sending her to the floor, then Angelina charges her but Gail drop toe holds her into the ring apron. Velvet slams Gail down and Angelina brings her into the ring after a 7 count, but Gail trips her up and applies a Figure Four on the ringpost. Velvet breaks it up, then Gail whips Angelina into the barricade and tries to hit her with a chair on the ramp. Velvet grabs it so Gail slams it into her stomach, but she turns around and Angelina hits a Botox Injection and kicks the chair into her face. Gail beats the count and Angelina heads up top, then Gail finally gets her hands on Velvet and throws her into Angelina on the turnbuckles. Gail throws Velvet outside and sets up on the turnbuckles, then she connects with a belly-to-back driver onto the chair, and Angelina doesn’t make the count.

Winner – Gail Kim

*Gail Kim is still the best womans wrestler today. ODB is history in TNA by now so Gail Kim will feud with the Beautiful People a little bit longer until a new heel will show up. Very good womans match and Gail is able to get the best out of their opponents. 8 of 10 points.

Six Sides Of Steel Cage Match
Bobby Roode vs Austin Aries vs Eric Young vs
James Storm vs Gunner vs Magnus

Everyone brawls before Eric clotheslines Aries, then Magnus clotheslines him and they all pick a corner to fight in.  Storm tries to escape, but Roode cuts him off, and they slug it out up top while Eric and Magnus trade punches in the opposite corner. We get back from a break to see Roode pulling Storm back in the cage by his hair, then Aries and Gunner fight in another corner while Roode puts Storm in a Crossface. Eric puts Magnus in a Sharpshooter, then Aries drops down and puts Gunner in Last Chancery.

Aries jumps up and tries to escape but he’s cut off, then Eric punches him but Aries slams his head into the cage. Aries hits Roode with a missile dropkick, then Roode comes back with a spinebuster, and Storm connects with Last Call. Gunner follows with a double clothesline before trying to escape, then Eric and Roode end up seeing they are the two men left standing after a Tower of Doom spot. They both climb opposite corners and drop down, seemingly both landing at the same time. Two referees raise a different man’s arm, and everyone argues over what happened as the show ends.

Winners: Eric Young and Bobby Roode tie

*This was kind of disappointing for a main event considering the rest of the show was really good. As if a Heel is the champ the winner would be a face anyway and so it happend with Rhode and EY. I expect Roode and EY will fight again for the spot and they always work well together. ( reminded me of the Royal Rumble result of 1994 with 2 winners as well) 7 of 10 points.

** a very good free to air ppv of TNA. Very good wrestling matches and feuds. This is where WRESTLING matters.
