Here are my predictions for tonights #WrestleMania 32:
1. The Total Divas vs. B.A.D. & Blonde
This match was added late to provide an opportunity for a bunch of performers to be on the show. At the center of this is Brie Bella vs. Lana, who is making her in-ring debut. Rumors abound that this could be Brie Bella’s last match as she exits to spend more time with husband Daniel Bryan and start a family. The Total Divas win this match, but many of these women deserved better than this spot.
2. The Usos vs. The Dudley Boyz
The Dudleyz’ return to WWE has amounted to less than expected, and then they turned on The Usos in early February seemingly for no purpose but to set up this match. How – or if – the tables fit into this match adds intrigue, but The Usos prevail.
3. Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale
This is scheduled for the preshow on USA Network and is another opportunity to get as many performers on the card as possible. After “Raw” this past week, we have a better sense of who’s actually entered. In Year 1, the Battle Royale was used as a chance to elevate Cesaro, although that push was short-lived. In Year 2, it was a career achievement for a longtime WWE good soldier in The Big Show. The trend started last year continues, and look for veteran Mark Henry to hoist the trophy in his home state.
4. The New Day vs. The League of Nations
There has been so much interaction between these teams in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, the question is what’s left to do. Taking the titles off the table limits where this can go, but The New Day will continue their transformation to full-on fan favorites and win this match.
5. AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho
This is a candidate for the match that steals the show. Styles makes his long-awaited WrestleMania debut and has shown that he can rise to the occasion at the big events in Ring of Honor, TNA and New Japan. This is WrestleMania, but Styles will be ready. In his various WWE returns, Jericho has been the ultimate veteran. He can work with just about anyone – and work as babyface or heel – and make his opponent look better. This is Styles’ WrestleMania moment.
6. Kalisto (c) vs. Ryback - WWE United States Championship
Remember how the shine was supposed to be put back on the U.S. title when John Cena won the title and then defended it on “Raw” every week. Well, that seems like a long time ago based on this title match. The better story is the little man beats the big man, so Kalisto retains the title.
7. Charlotte (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks -WWE Divas Championship
Looking forward to this one. These three women had so many great matches in NXT and want to steal the show at WrestleMania. As much as I like Charlotte and would love to see another Flair have a WrestleMania moment, the needle seems to be trending toward Sasha Banks. Charlotte will have another title run – and probably many more – but this might be the moment for Banks.
8. Kevin Owens (c) vs. Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder vs. Sin Cara vs. The Miz vs. Stardust -WWE Intercontinental Championship
The multi-person ladder match is seemingly back to being a staple of WrestleMania. This is going to be a car crash, but it’s hard to figure why half these guys are in this match other than to put them on the card. Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler are the only options to win here, and as much as I like Owens, Zayn wins his first main roster title.
9. Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker - Hell in a Cell match
If “Raw” was any indication, Shane won’t shy away from the high-risk moves that defined his previous time in the ring. If the rumored brand extension is real, Shane ends up winning to take control of Raw with Vince McMahon somehow getting involved and costing the Undertaker. This could go a lot of different ways, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they get there.
10. Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar - No-holds-barred street fight
This is simply going to be about as much plunder and weaponry as can be found for Lesnar and Ambrose to use on each other. Might be the most fun match of the night. Ambrose doesn’t need to win this match to burnish his credentials as a tough guy; Lesnar should win to retain his aura as the guy who wins the big matches.
11. Triple H vs. Roman Reigns - WWE World Championship
Where does The Rock fit in here, or does he? The WWE is in a tough position in which the alleged fan favorite challenger likely will get booed by most of the stadium if he wins the match. That probably is not the goal to close the show. Could the Undertaker-Shane McMahon match end up going on last to avoid that scenario? I would like to see that The Rock turns on Roman Reigns and Triple H will keep the Title to face Cena or Brock Lesnar.
