Here are my predictions for the 2015 WWE Battleground PPV.
[WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match]: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Brock Lesnar
I'm very surprised WWE is doing this at Battleground instead of
SummerSlam. Does that mean Lesnar defeats Rollins and heads into the
bigger event as champion, or that Rollins will defend the title against
Triple H at SummerSlam? This is a tough one...
PREDICTION: Right now, I'm leaning toward Seth Rollins retaining with a cheap victory by DQ or COUNT OUT
Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt cost Roman Reigns the Money in the Bank, so this match was
inevitable. Thankfully, they've given more meaning to this feud over the
past few weeks. I still don't know if I like the idea that it's
happening here and then a rematch will probably happen at SummerSlam,
because that happened last time with Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt and it
hurt the feud for the bigger pay-per-view, but I've enjoyed this enough
so far that I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins unless this happens again at SummerSlam, in which case Wyatt wins and Reigns wins in August.
[WWE Intercontinental Championship Match]: Ryback (c) vs. Big Show vs. The Miz
With Ryback out of action because of a staph infection, no prediction is needed. Hopefully he has to forfeit the IC Title and Miz and Big Show will battle for it.
PREDICTION: The Miz.
[WWE Tag Team Championship Match]: The Prime Time Players (c) vs. The New Day
I really want The New Day to win the titles back and I'm not sure why
WWE decided to change the champions to begin with. The Prime Time
Players can't really be going into SummerSlam as champs, can they? Who
would they face? The New Day probably isn't going to come out on top,
but I want them to.
PREDICTION: The Prime Time Players retain.
[WWE United States Championship Match]: John Cena (c) vs. Kevin Owens
With the United States Championship on the line here, that makes me
nervous about what will happen. I want Kevin Owens to come out on top. This is tough. One way or another, I'll be looking
forward to this match, since their previous two have been amazing. My
gut is telling me that Owen will be the new US Champion.
PREDICTION: Kevin Owen wins.
Sheamus vs. Randy Orton
Randy Orton needs to lose this to help make Sheamus look worthy of the
Money in the Bank briefcase. Is that going to do the trick? Not
entirely. Am I going to care about this match? Not at all. I've never
been a fan of Sheamus and I really hate the idea that he has a future
title shot waiting for him, and on top of this, I've seen this match
happen enough that I don't have any interest in it. It isn't even as
though Randy Orton is someone I like to see work with anyone, similar to
Dolph Ziggler. Orton himself can drag down a match and while facing
Sheamus, I expect this to be nothing but a bore that I struggle to pay
attention to.
PREDICTION: Sheamus wins.
[Kickoff Pre-Show "Battle for the Crown" Match]: King Barrett vs. R-Truth
This feud's been more entertaining than I thought it would be, but it's
about time it ended, and it needs to end the proper way with King
Barrett coming out on top. For some reason, WWE has this tendency to
give someone a title or championship of some kind and then job them out
and forget about them and Barrett's been treated like that ever since
winning King of the Ring. R-Truth has been kind of making a mockery out
of it and Barrett looks weaker than he did leading up to the tournament,
which is a shame. Barrett deserves better and he needs to not only win
this match, but also continue to win halfway decent and important
matches following Battleground. He can't just be a non-entity at
SummerSlam and if he loses here, forget about him having a push.
PREDICTION: King Barrett wins.
