WWE Smackdown Live Results 3/13/18

(c) WWE

AJ Styles opened the show and said his WWE journey has seemed unbelievable, but not impossible. He said dreams will come true at WrestleMania with his dream match. Shinsuke Nakamura interrupted and said his dream will come true at WrestleMania, too: he will become champion. Rusev then came out for a match.

1. AJ Styles defeated Rusev. This was a non-title match. Styles won by disqualification when Aiden English got in the ring and attacked him. After the match, Nakamura saved Styles from a 2-on-1 beatdown.

2. The Bludgeon Brothers defeated Big E and Jimmy Uso. Uso and Big E were teaming because their respective teammates were too banged up to compete. Rowan pinned Uso after a double-team powerbomb.

— Asuka and Charlotte Flair had a face-to-face meeting. Flair said she’s going to end her undefeated streak. Asuka said she bows to no one, because no one is ready for Asuka.

— Randy Orton came to the ring and said he’s been called a lot of things, but the one thing he’s never been called until now is United States Champion. He said he’s a Grand Slam champion now, and that’s something he cares about. He said Bobby Roode earned his respect at Fastlane, but this title is his now. Roode entered and congratulated Orton, and said he still has his rematch coming, and it’s going to take place at WrestleMania. Jinder Mahal entered and taunted Orton and Roode, reminding Orton that he beat him last week and promised to beat Roode tonight.

3. Jinder Mahal defeated Bobby Roode. Mahal took advantage of a distraction, hit Khallas and got the pin. Orton hit Mahal with an RKO after the match.

4. Carmella defeated Naomi. Carmella won with a rollup after pulling Naomi off the ropes.

— Shane McMahon made his WrestleMania announcement, saying he would be taking a leave of absence as commissioner and general manager Daniel Bryan would be going it alone starting next week, but he made one more match: Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 34. Owens and Zayn appeared and beat McMahon down, then dragged him to the back, where Owens powerbombed McMahon onto a stack of metal.

WWE Raw Results 3/12/18

(c) WWE

The show opened with Kurt Angle, who announced Brock Lesnar won’t make it to Raw. Roman Reigns entered and said that Lesnar doesn’t respect anyone and that if anyone else kept skipping work, they’d lose their job. Reigns said Vince McMahon was the problem because he protects Lesnar, and went to confront the WWE CEO. Reigns went to the back and got in McMahon’s face.

After the first break McMahon spoke to Renee Young and said that while he has no intention of disrespecting Roman, he has to remember to know your role and shut your mouth. He promised that Lesnar will be on Raw next week, and gave Reigns a temporary suspension for confronting him in the control room.

1. Sasha Banks defeated Sonya Deville. Banks won by submission with the Bank Statement. Absolution ganged up on Banks after Bayley had left ringside.

– Seth Rollins and Finn Bálor were MizTV guests, and despite Miz’s best efforts to turn them against one another, neither guy fell for it. They did eventually start jawing to set up a match, but instead just took out Miz. Rollins then laid out Bálor.

– The Bar and The Miztourage never started. The two teams started brawling before The Revival showed up and targeted Cesaro and Shamus. Gallows and Anderson followed them, and soon after, Titus Worldwide and Rhyno and Heath Slater came out to join the brawl.

– John Cena said that he would attend WrestleMania as a fan … unless the Undertaker accepted his challenge. He asked Undertaker for one more match, then said the ball was in the Dead Man’s court.

– Backstage, the Bar confronted Kurt Angle about their beatdown and demanded a trade to Smackdown Live. Angle denied their request and said there would be a battle royal tonight to determine the Bar’s WrestleMania opponents.

– Elias appeared in a neck brace and started his concert, then said the fans were to blame for his condition, and left.

2. Finn Bálor defeated Seth Rollins. Rollins hit a superplex, and as he went for the rolling Falcon Arrow, Bálor reversed into a small package for the pin.

– Asuka came out to explain her challenging Charlotte Flair to a WrestleMania match. Alexa Bliss and Mickie James interrupted and said Asuka is smart not challenging for Bliss’ Raw Women’s Championship. Asuka said she wants to face the best champion in WWE, and that’s not Bliss. Asuka said she beat Bliss once, and she can beat her right now. Bliss said she would be facing a different opponent instead, and James sucker-punched Asuka.

3. Asuka defeated Mickie James. Asuka made James tap out with the Asuka Lock. After the match, Bliss stormed to the back, leaving James alone in the ring.

– Backstage, Bliss told Nia Jax she loves her and made her promise that she’ll be there in her corner next week for her match against Asuka, just like Bliss has always been in Jax’s corner.

4. Nia Jax defeated Joan King. Jax won by pinfall after a Samoan drop.

– After the match, Jax overheard Bliss and James trash-talking her backstage and Bliss admitting she uses Jax for her benefit. Charly Caruso finally told Bliss and James they were on microphone, and they ran out of the room just before Jax came backstage and tore the dressing room apart.

5. Braun Strowman won a tag team battle royal. This was to determine The Bar’s challengers for the Raw Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 34. Sheamus and Cesaro sat in on commentary for the match. Strowman won by last eliminating Karl Anderson.

WWE Fastlane 2018 results

WWE Fastlane 2018 Results:

Kickoff Match: Tye Dillinger and Breezango defeated Mojo Rawley, Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin. Dillinger pinned Rawley with the “Perfect 10” knee to the face.

1. Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Rusev. Nakamura avoided the Accolade, slipping out and hitting a knee to the back of Rusev’s head, then hit a second Kinshasa to win the match.

2. United States Championship Match: Randy Orton defeated Bobby Roode (c). Orton countered a Blockbuster attempt with an RKO to win a long match and become the new United States Champion. After the match, Jinder Mahal came to the ring to confront Orton. Roode hit both men with Glorious DDTs.

3. Natalya and Carmella defeated Naomi and Becky Lynch. Carmella capitalized on Lynch being distracted by Natalya trying to cheat and hit a superkick to win the match.

4. Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs. The New Day
ended in a No Contest when the Bludgeon Brothers attacked both teams. Xavier Woods was taken away on a stretcher, and everyone else had to be helped leaving.

5. Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Charlotte Flair (c) defeated Ruby Riott. Flair fought off interference from the Riott Squad and locked in the Figure-Eight to win the match and retain the Women’s Championship. After the match, Royal Rumble winner Asuka showed up and pointed at the WrestleMania sign.

6. Six-Pack Challenge: AJ Styles (c) defeated Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin and John Cena. Kevin Owens, trying to superkick Sami Zayn, accidentally kicked Shane McMahon at ringside. Owens had the match won with a pop-up powerbomb on Ziggler, but Shane pulled him out of the ring. Zayn capitalized with a Helluva Kick, but Shane pulled HIM out of the ring. Styles retained the title after a Phenomenal Forearm to Owens.

WWE Fastlane 2018 predictions

Here are my predictions for tonights WWE ppv FASTLANE:

Six-Pack Challenge for the WWE Title
John Cena vs. Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kevin Owens vs. Baron Corbin vs. AJ Styles

-> If WWE truly wants to piss its fans off even further, there will be a title change here. All SmackDown has done is disappoint over the last six months, and fans will likely riot if WWE dangles the Styles-Nakamura match at WrestleMania in front of them only to change course here right before the buzzer. That said, a victory by Ziggler would be a pleasant surprise because it would at least wrap up a confusing angle in which he won and then relinquished the U.S. title in a span of 24 hours. Outside of that, anyone else beating Styles for the title would be a total disaster. WWE already has a main event angle going nowhere on SmackDown (see below), the last thing it needs to do is pull a WrestleMania match that fans exploded for when Nakamura announced his choice of opponent at the Royal Rumble.
Pick: AJ Styles retains the title

WWE United States Title Match
Randy Orton vs. Bobby Roode
-> A Mahal interference seems like a no-brainer here. It's crazy that Mahal's entire run with the company's most prestigious title only served to make him a legitimate midcarder. A title change here does not make much sense, but can WWE really go back-to-back pay-per-views with zero real developments in terms of its championships heading into WrestleMania 34? I think that's exactly what is going to happen.
Pick: Bobby Roode retains the title

SmackDown Tag Team Title Match
The New Day vs. The Usos

->  While I wish we were headed for this two-on-two match at WrestleMania 34 in April, I have a feeling SmackDown is going to give us a triple threat with The Bludgeon Brothers involved. Let's hope that's the case, at least, because BB against one of these two teams would not be nearly as exciting. I do think BB interferes in this match and tries to take out both teams, setting up a non-finish without a title change:
Pick: Match ends in a no contest

SmackDown Women's Title Match
Ruby Riott vs. Charlotte Flair
->  If the new SmackDown faction the Riott Squad has proven one thing since being rushed up from NXT, it's that they are not entirely ready for prime time. While Riott is a fine in-ring performer, she lacks the presence to be the leader of the stable. So what exactly does that say about her prospects to exiting Fastlane as champion? You get the point. Flair  has basically been biding time before the reveal of who her WrestleMania opponent will end up being. And while there's an argument to be made that this could be the time for Carmella to cash in somewhat under the radar, WWE hasn't yet committed to who Asuka will pick after winning the Royal Rumble. We may very well see Carmella provide the tease once again but the smart money is on Charlotte keeping the strap.
Pick: Charlotte Flair retains the title

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Rusev
-> WWE hasn't given us much of a reason to care about this either, but it should at least be a good match featuring two of the most over superstars on SmackDown. It is clear that WWE hopes some of Rusev's juice rubs off on Nakamura here, and their lone backstage segment leading into this match was fantastic. Unfortunately, it sets Rusev up for another loss. God forbid WWE allow someone the fans like to get over on their own.
Pick: Shinsuke Nakamura wins

Carmella and Natalya vs. Becky Lynch and Naomi
-> There's not much of a storyline here to speak of, and the players involved create too much of a negative reminder about the Welcoming Committee storyline that bombed in 2017 upon Charlotte Flair's arrival on SmackDown Live. Making an official prediction might be contingent on whether you believe Carmella will cash in her Money in the Bank contract later in the night. After being off television for months, she returned on Tuesday and promptly lost to Lynch. Another loss here could be the perfect "out of sight, out of mind" booking that opens the door for her to cash in later on. Then again, I've been predicting that every blue-branded PPV for eight months.
Pick: Becky Lynch & Naomi win
