WWE SummerSlam 2017 preview

Here is my WWE SummerSlam 2017 preview and match predictions.

Universal Championship Fatal 4-Way Match — If Brock Lesnar loses, he and Paul Heyman leave WWE
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe vs. Braun Strowman

-> This should be a great match because Brock is the big star, Samoa Joe is the great worker, it's fascinating to watch the crowd boo the hell out of Roman Reigns, and Braun's weaknesses can be hidden in between spurts of monster spot offense. Brock Lesnar isn't leaving WWE just yet so the stipulation means he's pretty likely to win here, and perhaps they set up a match with Lesnar and Strowman for the next PPV. Pick: Brock Lesnar

WWE Championship Match - Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamur
-> That the King of Strong Style is wrestling for the WWE Championship still feels wild even though he’s been in the company for well over a year now, but here we are. If the #1 contender’s match had gone the other way things would be different, but as it is, the Maharaja’s reign ends here. Pick: Shinsuke Nakamura

John Cena vs. Baron Corbin
->  Cena never wins at SummerSlam but Baron Corbin is real, real dumb and it certainly appears as though they’ve lost all faith in him. Pick: John Cena

“The Demon” Finn Bálor vs. Bray Wyatt
-> Bray can bring all the hibiscus juice he wants, the Demon will not be denied. Pick: Finn Balor

United States Championship Match — Shane McMahon as special guest referee - AJ Styles (c) vs. Kevin Owens
-> I can’t wait for Shane to be the worst ref ever. Because someone may lay hands on him. And if they do, he’ll have no choice but to respond with violence. Since they already did Shane/AJ, it’ll be KO who gets screwed here tonight. Pick: AJ Styles

Raw Women’s Championship Match - Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Sasha Banks
-> Bliss reign hasn’t done much for me, and I was pulling for a change even before Bayley got hurt. While I honestly doubt she can win in her hometown and earn his first big Brooklyn win in the same seven day span, I’m picking with my heart anyway. Sometime a prognosticator gonna push it all out the way, know what I’m saying? Pick: Sasha Banks

Raw Tag Team Championship Match - Cesaro & Sheamus (c) vs. Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins
->  It seems like the right timing to move the titles here, right? Well, when is WWE any good with timing? Pick: Cesaro & Sheamus

SmackDown Women’s Championship Match - Naomi (c) vs. Natalya
-> Naomi isn't losing the championship to Natalya. The more interesting scenario to consider is, will Carmella show up afterwards and escape this show as the champion? If Carmella successfully pulls it off, I hope Ellsworth rubs it in Baron Corbin's face before they leave the arena. Pick: Naomi

Randy Orton vs. Rusev
-> You know it’s sad but true. Pick: Randy Orton

Big Show vs. Big Cass (with Enzo Amore suspended in a Shark Cage)
-> Lotta Big in this match. Pick: Big Cass

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match - Kickoff Match
The New Day (c) vs. The Usos

-> I really don't think the New Day are going to lose their titles in less than one month. This will be one of the best matches of the night, but it's too bad that it's destined to be forgotten forever due to being on the pre-show. Pick: New Day

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match Kickoff match
Akira Tozawa (c) vs. Neville

-> The King’s title run was great, but it didn’t change anyone’s mind about the cruisers or 205 Live. Maybe Titus Worldwide and Broken Neville can. Pick: Akira Tozawa

Kickoff Match
The Hardy Boyz & Jason Jordan vs. The Miz & The Miztourage

-> It’s the lowest match on the card, designed to get the crowd warmed up for the show, and this is the perfect heel team to do a job. Pick: Jason Jordan & The Hardys

NXT TakeOver Brooklyn 3 results and review

1. Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Johnny Gargano. Gargano was about to put Almas away with a until Zelina Vega threw a #DIY T-shirt into his face, allowing Almas to connect with a dropkick followed by a hammerlock DDT for the victory.
-> really great opener for the show and thank god Almas won the match via a DIY interference. Great booking and both wrestler got the best out of it. 8 of 10 points.

2. NXT Tag Team Championship Match: SAnitY defeated the Authors Of Pain (c). This match featured Corey Graves on guest commentary. Both teams brawled before the match even started, with Authors Of Pain eventually clearing the ring. Though originally not scheduled to compete, SAnitY’s Eric Young switched spots with Killian Dain (who had yet to be tagged in) mid-match. Later, Dain put Akam through a table on the outside of the ring after Akam had caught Nikki Cross mid-flying crossbody, allowing Wolfe and Young to hit Rezar with flying neckbreaker for the pinfall victory.
-> WOW what a surprise with SAnitY winning the titles. But to be hounest - there wasn´t left for AOP in NXT as champs. Another great match with 8 of 10 points
— After the match, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, collectively known as reDRagon, hit the ring and beat down both SAnitY and the Authors Of Pain.

3. Aleister Black defeated Hideo Itami. This match featured Jim Ross on guest commentary. Aleister Black was played to the ring by Code Orange featuring the frontman of Incendiary. Early on in the match, Itami busted Black open, possibly breaking his nose. After a hard-hitting match, a bloody Black won after connecting with a sudden Black Mass kick.
-> no time to waste at the show and another great match. This feud isnt over yet and I can´t wait to see more of them. Right winner with Black. 8 of 10 points too.

4. NXT Women’s Championship Match: Asuka (c) defeated Ember Moon. After a series of very close near-falls on Asuka, the women’s champion was able to catch Ember Moon in the Asuka Lock and force her to tap out. Asuka remains undefeated.
-> this is my match of the evening. Clear win for ASUKA - that was a surprise for me too. But I guess there will be one more match between these two. 9 of 10 points. THIS is WOMANS WRESTLING at this best.

5. NXT Championship Match: Drew McIntyre defeated Bobby Roode (c). McIntyre was led to the ring by the New York City Police Department Emerald Pipes & Drums. McIntyre connected with a Claymore, but Roode was able to get a foot on the rope to break up the pin. Later, McIntyre attempted the Claymore again but was countered into a spinebuster by Roode, who hit a Glorious DDT shortly thereafter, also for a two count. Roode connected with a second Glorious DDT, but then McIntyre reversed a third Glorious DDT attempt into a Claymore for the victory.
-> Very good mainevent with a title change at the end. Maybe Roode is heading to the main roster at tonights SummerSlam. 8,5 of 10 points and great booking.

— After the match, McIntyre was beaten down by reDRagon and a debuting Adam Cole. Cole posed with the NXT Championship as TakeOver went off the air.

-> After a less great NXT TAKEOVER BROOKLY 2 this was a really great wrestling PPV. 5 awesome matches, some surprises and new feudes on the horizon. Really liked the booking. THIS IS WRESTLING.

NXT TakeOver Brooklyn 3 Predictions

Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas

-> After his friend and tag team partner Tommaso Ciampa betrayed and attacked him, Gargano is now a solo act. A showdown with Almas is the first major stopping point of his journey as a singles competitor.

Almas, meanwhile, is in the midst of a shift in attitude. The devil-may-care playboy has grown more focused thanks to Zelina Vega (aka Thea Trinidad) at his side.
This should be a solid bout from an in-ring standpoint and intriguing in terms of who WWE is more interested in pushing right now. I go with Almas.

Aleister Black vs. Hideo Itami
-> Frustration has seen Itami morph into a more vicious competitor of late. He turned on his friend Kassius Ohno during a slow-burn heel turn and is now intent on climbing the NXT ladder with a new, looser moral code.  He faces one of NXT's hottest acts in Black.

The Dutch bruiser's presence, heavy-handed strikes and technical prowess have made him a star for the brand in short time. WWE seems to recognize his potential as a top-tier anti-hero. He's undefeated at NXT so far, taking down the likes of Bobby Fish, Ohno and Almas.

This bout promises to be a thriller flush with haymakers. Black and Itami are among NXT's hardest strikers, and there will be plenty of red flesh and loose teeth when this is all over. I go with Aleister Black.

The Authors of Pain vs. Sanity (NXT Tag Team Championship)
-> In a rare heel-on-heel championship match, the unhinged faction that is Sanity will try to be the first to topple Akam and Rezar of The Authors of Pain.

Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain will have the advantage of their stablemates Nikki Cross and Eric Young lurking at ringside. And after Sanity has suffered so many losses with zero titles to show for it, Wolfe and Dain can change the group's narrative in a big way here.

This will be a major test for both teams, as The Authors of Pain have long had the benefit of top-notch opponents facing them, from The Revival to #DIY. Wolfe and Dain aren't that.
Beyond retaining, Akam and Rezar will be out to prove WWE's faith in them as a top monster duo is justified. AOP will retain.

Asuka vs. Ember Moon (NXT Women's Championship)
-> The women's champ remains undefeated. She remains the unstoppable champion no challenger can bring down. Moon offers the most convincing threat Asuka has faced, though.

The Texas native is one of the best in-ring performers in NXT right now. She's a compelling, larger-than-life figure. Her ceiling is high, and she's most certainly championship material.
Will she be the woman who finally dethrones Asuka?

Win or lose, Moon promises to deliver one of the most thrilling matches of Asuka's reign. She can hang with the champ whether the bout leans more toward a slugest or an aerial affair. This has show-stealer written all over it. NEW CHAMP with EMBER MOON

Bobby Roode vs. Drew McIntyre (NXT Championship)
-> WWE released the Scottish wrestler in 2014. After tearing it up in the United Kingdom and the U.S. independent scene, he has stormed into NXT looking stronger, more magnetic and more fiery than ever before.
He's produced a number of smashmouth works of art at Full Sail. Roode, on the other hand, has had a number of underwhelming performances with sluggish energy. Something has to give when they meet in Brooklyn.  McIntyre is poised to snatch the title from Roode and replace him as the flag-bearer of the brand. Seeing him try, one boot to the chin after another, is going to be quite the ride.

Booy Roody will retain

The referee throws one of Naomi’s detached neon extensions out of the ring. Natalya is watching backstage. Naomi fights up and hits a backbreaker. Naomi kicks her in the head, ducks a clothesline, and hits a trio of her own. Naomi kicks wildly at her before hitting a sit-out jawbreaker. Naomi kips up. Carmella drops her on the apron, but Naomi quickly kicks her in the head. Naomi goes to the top rope, but Carmella stops her. Naomi pushes her off and goes for a head-scissor, but Naomi counters. Carmella pulls the hair, but the referee backs her up. James Ellsworth comes through the crowd and knocks her off the top rope. Carmella then superkicks her for the win!

Winner by Pinfall: Carmella

They circle the ring before getting in to a hockey fight. Mahal fights him back, but Orton quickly overtakes him. The crowd boos Orton. Mahal is actually from Canada. Mahal sends him into the ropes, but Orton takes him down with a Thesz Press. Mahal quickly gets out of the ring to recover. Orton attacks him outside and sends him into the barricade twice. Orton then gives him a back suplex onto the barricade. Orton puts him in the ring, but Mahal immediately gets out. Orton goes outside and clotheslines him on the floor. Orton then gives him a back suplex onto the commentary table. Orton clears the table and gets in, but Mahal attacks him to a loud cheer. Orton quickly clotheslines him out of the ring and throws him over the table. Orton sets up for an RKO on the table, but Mahal pushes him off. Orton hits the barricade ribs-first and falls into the timekeeper’s area.

We come back from the break to see Mahal kneeing away at Orton. Mahal applies a chin lock. Orton fights up and punches out. The crowd is booing him.
